Reality tales

~
A guy once told me that living in Singapore is like living a rat race but he would never migrate. As a Singapore citizen, he is allowed benefits and rights in this country otherwise restricted if he emigrated and become a second-class citizen in another country.

Another person already has plans to move across the borders forever and i will miss them when they go. The person tell me of their siblings' experience and it makes me itch just a little to go through it just to know how it is like.

I hear that life at SMU, even as a first year is hectic and something like a 7 days a week kind of job. Maybe even like hell except you had voluntarily went into it. A fictional blog online also pretty much describes the same thing and i lack the confidence to survive 4 years of it but that would be rather weak of me, won't it? They say of rising up to the challenge, a human experience, living and seriously what would i know of it until/unless i am embroiled in it?

Still, i am really thankful that people around me deign to relate their experiences to lil' ole me and i will take it to heart.

I sort of realize to my horror that i forgot that if i didn't get a B for GP, certain courses would be closed off to me again. I am in quite a pinch, aren't i. It can be said that i deserve it though, which is true. Take what is dished, receive what is due.

Felix reminded me that this blog exists so......

Hmm...haven't come here in a very long time. I am rather disappointed that most of the links to other people's blogs are dead. Why!!!

Currently, i don't think i have much to write though. Received my A's results and the grades for the major subjects combine to make a word that sounds like "yeast". Of course you'll have to ignore the contents of the word itself since it doesn't depict the alphabets in reality.

Currently working. Also reading Yakitate Japan, not during work of course. Strangely, of all the characters, i like Kawachi the best. Guess it must be because i feel that he is the most realistic character so i keep on wanting good things to happen to him. However it is impossible because what made me like his character in the first place is because he does't readily maintain a state of godly standard of concentration and principles so good things, even though they will occur, won't do so frequently. I also have the strange urge to pair him up with everybody he interacts with since it would be really hilarious. Sadly, fanfiction disappoints me. I really need to get Japanese websites searching skills......

Not so long hair now...

My hair was cut today. (note i didn't phrase it as "i cut my hair today")

I don't know what to feel.

There is relief and wonder because i didn't know how it feels to have short hair...shorter hair at any rate.

Yet, i felt as if i've cut away two years of my life. It was the length of a hand and wrist. I kind of realised that the length reached my thigh, which was my aim. Now, it's only a little over my waist, kind of like at JC 1 all over again. I wished i had taken more pictures. i feel as if i had disappointed myself. It is rather disquieting.

The hairdresser, also my aunt who lives just next block, lectured my on the perils of growing too long hair. Hair-raising consequences such as dropping lots of hair, which i know but when someone voices it out, it is a lot scarier.

I am still going to grow it long though. To the thigh. Then, hopefully, at that time, i would have the courage to snipe it off at neck length. That is another two years of growing i am anticipating.

I've baked my baked rice on Thursday or Friday night using the simplified version of this recipe: http://www.stomp.com.sg/stfoodiesclub/cookit/35/ meaning none of the fanciful seafood ingredients and the like, just the sauce and the rice. The end result wasn't great but it wasn't bad either and i learnt a lot.

1. When they say "sauce", they meant "paste". Whatever has flour in it, even when "simmering", would be a paste. Don't worry, it'll become all gooey and soft like those in the restuarant after it is baked.

2. Don't use too much cheese and baked rice would be a thousand times better with ingredients, otherwise, it is a somewhat disgusting lump of cheese and slight hint of flour presence, especially when it is cold, leading me to the third point which probably everyone knows:

3. When it is cold, it is bad. Plus, the cheese hardens.

4. Don't use cheddar. Parmesan cheese is way better. It is divine. It is just unfortunately very expensive. Don't take my word for it though. I used shredded cheddar instead of grated cheddar and it is up to personal preferences. I am kind of considering smuggling parmesan cheese from pizzahut or something but it would be rather inconvenient for the next customer and i don't have the guts but as a customer, it is also my privilege...(argues with self)

With this, my baked rice obsession just meandered down. The heat is over, somewhat. Just don't mention it to me unless we are planning to eat it and don't mention it too ofter--my wallet can't take that kind of attack too much.

...alright, now back to my PQ. Kinda stuck at academic endeavour but when i attempted to change section, suddenly i have inspiration. Talk about the magic of procrastination. Mine works too well that it's discomforting.

It was the tiniest spider i've ever seen that at first i thought it was an ant. Then, i noticed that it was more 2 segmented than 3 segmented and the number of thinner than half a hair strand legs seem to number more of eight than six......it was also skittering on my arm.

Edit: i miss you Shadow Star!! Ok, ok, it's my fault. i didn't really contact you but i kinda wished i had accepted your invitation to study together. i totally regretted not accepting. Sorry! i am in the wrong. ^_^; not that you mind...i just wanted to say these.

JSS

Jurong Secondary School was in the news today dahhhhh. It was about learning chinese innovatively. They acted out The Little Prince in a play with all the TV set equipment. That's two shots in my awesome department.

I saw some teachers who i've only seen in passing in school and then, there was Mdm Ong, my chinese teacher, wah, she still look so kind and gentle. Then there was Mr Lau doing quite a bit of talking, which was weird since he is a Science HOD and my physice teacher and he was speaking in chinese and for the chinese department. Then again, they were also going on about learn more from experience and less from teachers sort of thing so maybe chinese is just a subset of a bigger picture. I am still used to hearing Mr Lau speak English. Although it does not seem to be his strong suit, he always uses it so it was a whole lot of bizzareness to hear him in Chinese but everything is still amazing dahhh...
